Project type

Date

2015

Location

Nasriyah | Iraq

Born in 1994 in the ancient city of Nasiriyah, southern Iraq, Mohammed Hussein grew up with a deep love for his homeland and a strong sense of duty. When Iraq faced one of the gravest threats in its modern history—the rise of ISIS and the invasion of its cities—Mohammed did not hesitate. He was among the first to respond to the call issued by the supreme religious authority, a call that resonated deeply with millions of Iraqis to defend their land, their dignity, and their sacred sites.

At just twenty years old, Mohammed joined the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), fueled by a sense of honor and patriotism. He was eager to shorten his training period, driven by the urgency of the threat and the desire to contribute directly to the fight. His determination paid off—he was soon deployed with one of the PMF formations tasked with liberating Jurf Al-Sakhar, a strategically vital region under ISIS control.

In the thick of combat, Mohammed faced the enemy head-on.
“We were in direct confrontation with the criminal gangs of ISIS,” he recalls. “We fought fiercely and liberated several areas. As they began to flee, our group pursued them deeper into contested territory. But the area was heavily rigged with explosives. Later, we came under fire from long-range, heavy-caliber mortar shells. One of the rounds struck near us. Explosives around us detonated. In that moment, I lost my left leg... and the fingers of my left hand.”

His body was shattered, but not his spirit. The injuries he sustained could have ended his story there—but instead, they marked the beginning of a new chapter, one of resilience and rebirth. The Al-Kafeel Dynamics Center, under the direction of the General Secretariat of the Holy Abbasid Threshold, took swift action. With care, precision, and a deep sense of responsibility, they provided Mohammed with a state-of-the-art prosthetic limb, helping him walk again—and with it, reclaim his independence and dignity.

Mohammed’s journey stands as a powerful testament to the courage of Iraq’s youth. He embodies a generation that rose in defense of a nation when the world doubted its survival. His sacrifice reflects the cost of freedom, and his recovery reflects the strength of will and the compassion of institutions that honor their heroes.

Today, Mohammed continues to be a symbol of honor and devotion. He inspires others not through words, but through action—through the scars he carries and the strength he radiates. His story is not just about the loss he endured, but about what he gave, and what he continues to stand for: Iraq’s future, its resilience, and its eternal soul. The AL-Kafeel Dynamics Center, under the direction of the General Secretariat of the holy Abbasid threshold, took all measures to fit Mohammed with a prosthetic limb.
